Dr. Ali Yurtsever

Dr. Yurtsever has an undergraduate degree in Physics Education from Bosphorus University, MS and PhD degrees in Math from Ege University and MA degree in Management from Fatih University. He got his classical Islamic education during his secondary school years where he studied Arabic, Hadith, Fiqh, Tafseer, and Seerah from prominent ulama.

He taught and made research at Fatih University, Istanbul Turkey, Florida International University (FIU), Miami, FL, Georgetown University (GU) and Catholic University of America (CUA), Washington DC. He voluntarily presided Rumi Forum for Interfaith Dialogue when he was in DC between 2004-2009. In 2009 he was invited to Chicago for a noble mission, to help reviving American Islamic College (AIC) where he presided between 2012-2016. In his term, the College was revived from scratch after a long silence due to its lost operating and degree granting authority. In this respect, he is considered as the founding President of the College. When he stepped down from his position in August 2016, AIC was at its highest position academically, financially and physically since its inception.

With the invitation of Dr. Brophy, President of Benedictine University, Dr. Yurtsever joined the BenU family and started working for BenU in his capacity as the first Muslim Faith Advisor in 2016. BenU is known with its highest ratio of Muslim student population in the US. In his post, he supervised the MSA activities, organized lectures, seminars, conferences, meetings, on Islam related matters and other social issues, helped recruit Muslim students, dealt with the problems of Muslim students and other students related to Islam, advised students, staff, faculty and administration. He also attended some classes as an invited speaker, to inform the students about Islam related issues, and answered their questions. Furthermore, he used his network across the world to have some exchange programs with universities overseas. He stepped down from his position in 2018.

Currently, Dr. Yurtsever serves as the Board President of Islamic Society of Midwest.
